R&D Manager Dr. John Dilleen
John has 15 years experience in the diagnostics field. John gained his PhD in Electroanalytical Chemistry and followed this with six years as a postdoctoral researcher working in the areas of electrochemical sensors/biosensors for predominantly industrial sponsored applications (Kodak, UK Water authorities, EU Framework P5). John has since worked nine years in industry R&D and product development on a range of products including ‘ClearBlue’ (Unipath), ‘Heart Check’ (Alere) and the ‘OneTouch’ range (Lifescan). John has led projects across all stages of product development from concept feasibility and securing IPR, through development and to the launch of products worldwide. John joined MODE DX in September 2011.
Scientists
Researcher Dr. Louise Gray
Louise obtained a PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Strathclyde with a thesis entitled ‘A Novel Electrochemical Lateral Flow Immunoassay’. Louise then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Strathclyde with Professor Patricia Connolly on a commercially focused Proof of Concept project for a non-invasive glucose sensor that was funded by Scottish Enterprise. Louise then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow in Professor Jon Cooper’s Bioelectronics Group developing electrochemical immunosensors for incorporation into a lab-in-a-pill device. Louise started at MODE DX in February 2011.
Researcher Dr. Li Chen
Li obtained a PhD in Materials Science with Dr Steffi Krause at Queen Mary University of London on high resolution Scanning Photo-induced Impedance Microscopy based on field-effect structures on silicon substrates. Li then gained postdoctoral research assistant experience at Professor Jon Cooper’s group in developing an impedimentric lab-on-a-chip microdevice for label free intracellular calcium flux detection at the University of Glasgow. Before joining MODE DX in March 2011, Li was working for a start-up company (DegraSense Ltd) in Queen Mary University of London in developing a low cost protease sensor for diagnosis of periodontal disease.
